Art and Design
Our Art and Design Curriculum
At Telford Junior School, Art and Design play a vital role in inspiring creativity and self-expression. Our curriculum is designed to engage and challenge pupils, equipping them with the skills and confidence to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
Children develop their artistic techniques through focused skill sessions and imaginative projects, using a wide range of materials such as pencil, charcoal, paint, clay and textiles. They create sketchbooks to record observations, explore ideas, and revisit their creative journeys.
Pupils also study the lives and work of influential artists, designers and craftspeople from a variety of cultures and historical periods. This helps them to understand how art shapes and reflects the world around us, while encouraging them to form and express their own opinions.
Through art, we aim to foster critical thinking, cultural awareness and personal development. Art is integrated across the curriculum to deepen understanding and make learning rich, enjoyable and accessible to all.
