During the visit, the children explored different areas of the church and learned about some of the key features found in a Christian church. They discovered the meaning of Baptism and how it welcomes people into the Christian community, as well as learning about Holy Communion and even having the chance to try Communion wafers.

The visit also helped the children understand more about remembrance and the impact of war on the local community. By looking at memorials inside the church, they learned how people remember those who have served and why remembrance is an important part of local history in Lillington.

Thank you to all the children and families who attended and supported our runners. Despite the damp weather, our pupils showed great determination and team spirit. Running long distance is always a challenge, and every child who took part demonstrated real effort and pride in representing the school.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Mrs Woodcock for accompanying the children and supporting them throughout the event.

Each class also staged their very own Stone Age Exhibition, showcasing their fantastic project work. It was wonderful to have so many parents and carers joining us to share the children’s hard work and to hear the children talk about their exhibits.

They drew intricate Mehndi patterns and investigated symmetry through wonderful rangoli designs. The highlight of the week was learning a traditional Diwali dance, where everyone joined in with enthusiasm. It was a week of learning, discovery and cultural appreciation - a truly bright way for Year 4 to end a great first half term and celebrate the spirit of Diwali!

Our school community came together in an incredible show of generosity for our Harvest collection. Families donated a wonderful selection of tinned and fresh food, which was displayed in the hall as a backdrop to our Harvest assemblies. The display looked superb, with some lovely fresh produce highlighting the importance of the season.

During the assemblies, we reflected on all that Harvest means – giving thanks for the food we so often take for granted and recognising the hard work of farmers, producers and retailers, who ensure it reaches our shelves and our tables. We also spoke about the good that can be done when we share what we have with others, supporting those in our local community who may be struggling.

All the donations were taken to the Warwick Foodbank distribution centre, where they will make a real difference to local families. A huge thank you goes to the children who helped at every stage – from receiving and unpacking donations, to setting up the display and packing everything ready for delivery. Their teamwork and enthusiasm were inspiring - ably led by Bea and George (pictured).

We are so proud of the generosity shown by our school community – a true celebration of Harvest in action.

Our school community marked the European Day of Languages, an international event which promotes the rich diversity of languages and cultures across Europe. At Telford Junior School, each class chose a European country to research. Pupils explored their chosen nation’s people and culture, celebrating through art, cooking and tasting traditional foods, as well as dressing in the colours of their country’s flag. It was a joyful way to deepen cultural awareness and bring learning to life.

The staff also had fun, challenging the children to see how many Wallys they could spot.

We are incredibly proud of four enthusiastic children—Oscar, Seb, Seb, and Neville—who took the initiative to ask if they could start a weekly litter pick at school. Their dedication to keeping our environment clean and tidy is truly inspiring. Today, they were the first to head out, working hard to clean up our school grounds and set a fantastic example for others. Their commitment to improving our school is something to celebrate, and we look forward to seeing the impact of their efforts each week. Well done, boys!

Meals are planned to meet nutritional standards, whilst taking account of the children’s likes and dislikes.  There is a different main course served each day of the week, with a vegetarian or pasta option, or a jacket potato, served with a choice of fillings. The menus rotate on a three-weekly basis.  

The roast dinner option each Wednesday is proving a really popular choice for the children, along with homemade chicken curry and the BBQ vegetable and bean wrap.  Homemade shortbread, jam sponge with custard and 'Fruity Friday' have proved to be really popular desserts.
