The Year 6 classes enjoyed their trip to the Tower of London. The weather was kind and the children had a great time. They were particularly impressed by the Crown Jewels! The visit coincided with their curriculum work in the Autumn Term; learning about Rules and Democracy in PSHE, Crime and Punishment in History, The City of London in Geography and reading The Executioner’s Daughter (set in the Tower of London) in English. They also developed their fine drawing skills, producing some wonderful drawings of the Tower of London.

Congratulations to our girls and boys indoor rowing teams, who enjoyed success in this week's inter-school competition.
The Year 4 classes took part in an exciting robotics workshop, tied into their study of Ted Hughes' classic story, "The Iron Man." The pupils explored the themes of creativity and problem-solving, as they built their own robots using LEGO. With the help of iPads, they programmed their creations to mimic the Iron Man’s movements and interactions. This hands-on activity not only enhanced their understanding of the story, but also sparked their interest in engineering and technology. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for Year 4 to connect literature with technology in an engaging way, inspiring our young learners to think critically and work collaboratively.
Year 3 classes enjoyed Stone Age workshops delivered in school this week by a special visitor, who shared his expert knowledge of Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age times. Following on from these workshops, the classes made hand axes, knapping bars of soap, to replicate the way in which Stone Age people would have made hand axes from flint.
Some of the activities enjoyed during the Stone Age workshops:
Thank you to all our families for sending in tinned vegetables and fruit for our harvest collection in school. The children have enjoyed displaying the produce and the collection has complemented our harvest assemblies. The produce has been shared with the Warwick District Foodbank, to support the lives of people living in poverty.
Our Family Bingo Night was a huge success and we are really grateful to all of you who came along.
A grand total of £460 was raised.
We really appreciate your support.
We were pleased to host the first netball event of the season at Telford Junior School. Heathcote and Sydenham Primary Schools competed, alongside two teams from Telford Junior School. The competition produced an absorbing hour of netball. The matches were fast-paced and exciting to watch. It was great to see how much the children improved throughout the games.
The children celebrated European Day of Languages, with each class studying a different country and participating in a range of exciting activities connected to their class' chosen country. The children came to school dressed in the colours of that country, to add to the sense of occasion. Follow the QR code to learn more about our day in school:

ABM Catering are the school's new catering providers. Their new menus have been launched this term and the children have been enjoying the variety.
Meals are planned to meet nutritional standards, whilst taking account of the children’s likes and dislikes. There is a different main course served each day of the week, with a vegetarian or pasta option, or a jacket potato, served with a choice of fillings. The menus rotate on a three-weekly basis.
The roast dinner option each Wednesday is proving a really popular choice for the children, along with homemade chicken curry and the BBQ vegetable and bean wrap. Homemade shortbread, jam sponge with custard and 'Fruity Friday' have proved to be really popular desserts.

The menus are available on the website and you can view the menus here.
