School Council Visit to the Houses of Parliament

On Monday 6th July, we visited the Houses of Parliament. When we arrived, we were met by two friendly guides who showed us around the amazing parliamentary buildings. We saw the Throne in the House of Lords, which is used by His Majesty King Charles III during the State Opening of Parliament. We also visited the House of Lords and the House of Commons and learned why the House of Commons is green and the House of Lords is red. It was amazing to see the beautiful paintings, statues and artwork showing important moments from Britain's history. We stood in Central Lobby, where reporters often speak to Members of Parliament and share the latest political news. We really enjoyed being shown around the buildings – it felt very important and special. It was exciting to walk through the same halls as kings, queens, prime ministers and other important people. We had a fantastic day, and the workshop was really fun too!
